What is Zumba?
Zumba® – When participants see a Zumba class in action, they can’t wait to give it a try. Zumba classes feature exotic rhythms set to high-energy Latin and international beats. Before participants know it, they’re getting fit and their energy levels are soaring! There’s no other fitness class like a Zumba Fitness-Party. It’s easy to do, effective and totally exhilarating, often building a deep-rooted community among returning students.
What should I wear?
Loose comfortable clothing eg leggings/ tracksuit bottoms/ shorts and t-shirt (gym wear). Footwear should be soft soled trainers. Please always bring a bottle of water with you, you will get hot and sweaty!! :)
Will I see a difference to my fitness or is it just fun?
Once you’ve started Zumba you should see improvements in your level of fitness within about six weeks. As you progress you should also experience fat loss and improved muscle tone, especially when combined with a blood sugar balancing diet. The results are really dependent though on how much you shake your booty! Zumba is perhaps the most enjoyable and as such, the best method to lose weight.
How do I Zumba safely?
• Focus on learning the right technique at the beginning.
• Work continuously at perfecting your technique.
• Perform the movements with control – smooth actions, not jerky.
• Always keep your joints slightly bent, don’t lock out your arms or legs.
• Listen to your body, it will tell you if something is not right.
• Zumba should feel challenging, but at any time you need to take a rest, that’s fine!
